It is with great sadness that we report that Simon Goede, the former secretary of the Care for Children Foundation, passed away on May 3, 2023. Due to complications following pacemaker surgery, he died unexpectedly at the age of 87. After the death of Cor Visser, who started the foundation, Simon devoted years of unbridled energy to the two orphanages in Minethouk. Simon was involved with heart and soul and even after his retirement as director he was a good adviser to the new board. His mourning card said 'Our rock in the surf'! That was Simon in a nutshell, for everyone.
On Wednesday, May 10, the farewell celebration took place in Landsmeer, after which he was buried next to his dear wife Ariet in the cemetery. Simon, we will miss you!
